Saga Private Medical Insurance
Prompt Care. Low Premiums
Why do I need private medical insurance?

In a lifetime we spend literally thousands of pounds insuring our cars, our homes, our valuables and even our lives. Yet basic good health is perhaps the most precious asset we have, and all too often it is not given enough consideration.
The NHS is one of the best healthcare systems in the world for the treatment of accidents and emergencies. However, the sheer number of operations needed for less urgent conditions means that it continues to struggle to cope with the increasing demand on its resources. There are still a substantial number of people in the UK waiting for admission to hospital for treatment*. Private medical insurance enables you to avoid these lengthy delays.

A range of policies
Saga has been providing private medical insurance for more than 20 years. In 2007, our survey showed that many people aged 50 and over would prefer to have private healthcare. With two product ranges Saga private medical insurance is more accessible and affordable for the over 50s.
- Saga HealthPlans provide all the benefits of traditional private medical insurance through a choice of four policies.
- Saga Targeted Healthcare policies make health cover more affordable by concentrating on specific conditions that commonly affect people aged 50 and over.

Introducing the Saga HealthPlan range
Saga HealthPlan Super

Saga HealthPlan Super is our ‘top of the range’ policy, for those wanting the reassurance of comprehensive protection. It not only provides cover for eligible in–patient and day–patient treatment, but also for out–patient consultations, tests and physiotherapy. In this way, it aims to combine the quickest possible diagnosis with prompt, private access to an extensive choice of private hospitals regardless of NHS waiting lists.
Saga HealthPlan Secure

Saga HealthPlan Secure is our mid–range policy as it limits the amount you can claim for out–patient treatment to £650 per year. However, in addition to providing full cover for MRI, CT, and PET scans it also includes £300 for physiotherapy and complementary therapies following related in–patient treatment. Saga HealthPlan Secure also includes cover for the provision of home nursing and a private ambulance.
Saga HealthPlan Saver

Saga HealthPlan Saver is a good value plan offering cover for the main aspects of private hospital care. By providing prompt access to eligible private in–patient and day–patient treatment, you will never have to spend a long time waiting to go into hospital for an eligible operation. To make the premium more affordable, out–patient treatment is limited to £350 per year, which can only be used preceding or following related hospital treatment.
Saga HealthPlan Support

Saga HealthPlan Support is our most affordable option and makes private healthcare possible for more people by concentrating solely on quick access to private in–patient treatment. Your treatment can take place at a choice of private hospitals throughout the UK where you will experience all the advantages that private treatment provides.
There are four Saga HealthPlans to choose from, all of which include full cover for eligible in–patient and day–patient treatment, with no restriction on the amount that can be claimed during a policy year. At a glance comparison table
