Hospice of Hope
In Romania, people suffering life-threatening or terminal illnesses are particularly vulnerable to poorly funded services and anyone diagnosed with a terminal illness is likely to be sent home from hospital to die without any support or adequate pain relief.
In 1992, the UK charity ‘Hospices of Hope’ was set up and introduced hospice and palliative care services to Romania for the first time. Since then, the charity has flourished and branched out to support and provide much-needed hospice care in surrounding countries.
The Trust has been proud to support the work of Hospices of Hope and has funded two cars – one in Bucharest and one in Brasov – to enable terminally ill patients to be treated and cared for in their own homes.
