Kawantissapura School, Hambantota
The Kawantissapura School in Tissamaharama, near the town of Kataragama in Hambantota, has over 600 pupils between the ages of 5 and 18.
Facilities at this government school are cramped and basic, and the region was badly hit by the tsunami.
The Saga Charitable Trust funded a library building here and provided computers so that IT classes can be introduced.
The school has also received many gifts from Saga visitors, including much-needed books for the library.
